Course Descriptions:
Block 1
Medication Management & Administration
10 Hours 1 day Course 145.00
Medication Administration course educates caregivers on topics such as identifying medication names and description of the medication, comprehending the purpose of medication, learning abbreviations and medical terminology, and professional medical handling. Also discussed is confidentiality, resident rights, charting and reporting. This course will allow a caregiver to administer medication professionally and with confidence without the supervision of another staff.
Standard Precautions

This course is required first to become a certified state approved caregiver. Recognizing, protecting and preventing spreading of diseases. Hand hygiene, protective equipment, safe and sanitary environments, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and transmittable infections.
Fire Safety

This state approved course will be instructed by a fireman. Students will learn fire hazards, fire awareness, and safety procedures. Students will be trained on how to use a fire extinguisher, smoke alarms, sprinkler systems to ensure safety within the facility. Students will learn about causes of fire, classifications of fire, and how to locate a fire.
First Aid & Choking
4 Hours 90.00
State Approved Instructors teach students basic first aid skills as determined by the American Red Cross. Students will learn knowledge and skill in providing first aid in the workplace, home, and community. Each student will be taught the basic principles of first aid, when to call 911, checking for injury and illness, and working in a safe environment. Students will learn how to alleviate choking by clearing the airway of a conscious individual. CPR will be covered in this course but is not recognized by the AHA.
